For the first time, AACVPR Annual Meeting attendees will have the opportunity to step beyond the pages of the Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Prevention (JCRP), AACVPR's official scientific journal, and connect with contributors and editorial leaders behind the research shaping cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. Two interactive JCRP Journal Club Sessions at the 41st AACVPR Annual Meeting, September 30–October 2, in San Antonio, Texas, will allow attendees to ask questions, explore clinical applications, and discuss recently published articles with the experts who authored them.
Bringing Research to Life
By bringing authors, editors, and clinicians together in one room, this new programming creates a unique opportunity to explore how published evidence translates into everyday practice. Instead of a traditional classroom-style presentation, participants will engage directly with article authors and JCRP Editorial Board members in a collaborative setting that encourages questions, discussion, and knowledge sharing.
On the morning of October 1, meeting-goers are invited to join authors Barry A. Franklin, PhD, MAACVPR, and Steven J. Elmer, PhD, along with JCRP Editorial Board Member Mike Thompson, PhD, for a discussion centered on three recently published JCRP infographics highlighting the powerful impact of physical activity. The infographic article type is designed to provide clinicians with practical visual resources that can be incorporated directly into patient care and program education. Thursday’s topics will include:
The second session, scheduled for Friday morning, October 2, shifts the focus from infographics to commentary articles. Led by article author Rachael K. Nelson, PhD, FAACVPR, and JCRP Editorial Board members Gabriela L. Melo Ghisi, BSc PT, MSc, PhD, CRFC, FAACVPR, and Vicky Yandle, DNP, RN, CCRP, FAACVPR, FAVC, this session will explore two recently published commentaries that discuss quality in both cardiac rehabilitation and pulmonary rehabilitation. The featured content offers concise, clinically relevant perspectives on the following timely topics:
Participants are encouraged to review the selected articles in advance and come prepared to discuss how these concepts and resources can be applied within their own programs.
Exclusive to In-Person Attendees
The Journal Club sessions will not be recorded for on-demand access after the event, so the only way to unlock continuing education (CE) credit for this activity is to attend in person. Organizers say this new educational offering extends a unique opportunity to engage with the science shaping cardiopulmonary rehabilitation today.
