“Go West, Young People!”
AACVPR is heading almost as far West as the lower 48 will allow. Portland, Ore., is known for outdoor living, beautiful scenery, friendly people and being the home of Wikipedia. What a great place for AACVPR to host the 34th Annual Conference! This year’s theme – Power and Possibilities— is all about empowering our attendees with the hottest trends and most important advances in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, along with the tools they need to manifest possibilities when they return home. The goal is for every person attending to become empowered as a change agent in their professional community.
Exciting highlights from the first West Coast conference in five years are:
- A half-day preconference symposiums on starting smoking cessation and home-based cardiac rehabilitation programs. The always popular program certification and CCRP certification examination will be offered again this year.
- A variety of learning venues to suit all types of learners will include rapid-fire roundtables, breakout sessions and scientific oral abstract presentations to update attendees in program management, innovative leadership, behavior change, nutrition, cardiovascular rehabilitation, clinical cardiology and pulmonary rehabilitation.
- A great networking event in a social venue is planned following last year’s positive response. Stay tuned for more information!
- The Michael L. Pollock Established Investigator award, the Thomas L Petty Distinguished Pulmonary Scholar award and the L. Kent Smith Award of Excellence Awards will be given in “TedTalk” style presentations allowing the audience to draw inspiration from thought leaders and accomplished role-models throughout the cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation community.
- The 6th Edition of the AACVPR Guidelines for Cardiac Rehabilitation and Secondary prevention and the 5th Edition of AACVPR Pulmonary Rehabilitation Guidelines will both be previewed early in the program allowing for discussion and information sharing throughout the conference.
- Top NIH funded researchers in the field of Pulmonary Rehabilitation will discuss strategies to increase Pulmonary Rehabilitation participation.
- Find out what “prehab” is and how it can benefit your population.
- Updates in cardiac rehabilitation for oncology patients, advances in technology and addiction in cardiovascular disease are bringing new information to the attendees.
Join us in Portland and bring the power and possibilities back to your program!
