Earlier this week, AACVPR — in partnership with the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology — released a joint scientific statement outlining the benefits of home-based, medically supervised cardiac rehabilitation as an alternative to traditional cardiac rehabilitation methods.
Highlights include:
- Home-based cardiac rehabilitation may be an option for many who would benefit from cardiac rehabilitation after a heart attack or other heart procedure but can’t attend medical center-based programs.
- New strategies for delivering cardiac rehabilitation are urgently needed, as only a small percentage of those who should receive cardiac rehabilitation are receiving it.
