Hosted by the La Crosse Exercise and Health Program at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, this continuing education workshop will be held May 4-8, 2025.
A Highly Popular and Essential Training Opportunity
For more than four decades, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Workshop has been a vital resource for health care professionals. It is ideal for those who are newer to the field or in the process of setting up or revamping an existing program. The workshop covers cutting-edge content on program design, administration, exercise programming, and patient support services — all aimed at improving the quality of care for individuals undergoing cardiac rehab.
One of the key reasons this training is so successful is the quality of its faculty. All of the speakers are experienced professionals currently working in the field, which ensures the information shared is both relevant and practical. Many instructors hold leadership positions within state and national professional organizations, making this a can’t-miss event for professionals eager to stay ahead in the field.
Program Description and Course Content
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Workshop offers an up-to-date, broad overview of Phase I (inpatient), Phase II (outpatient), and Phase III (maintenance) cardiac rehabilitation, with a focus on exercise physiology, pathophysiology, administrative considerations, and patient education. Speakers will also be presenting on intensive cardiac rehab, hybrid cardiac rehab, pulmonary rehab, and outpatient respiratory services. This workshop will also provide hands-on laboratory experiences in exercise leadership, exercise prescription, and resistance training. Attendees will earn approximately 25 continuing education units (CEUs) from the La Crosse Exercise and Health Program. CEUs are pending approval by AACVPR and ACSM.
Words From Past Participants: Why You Should Attend
Those who have attended the Cardiac Rehabilitation Workshop emphasize the high-quality experience. “Speakers were great, good energy. Student participation was a great highlight. I now feel I have a stronger understanding of cardiac rehab programs and goals,” said Patricia G., RN.
Lynette L., RN, shared, “topics were great – keep on finding speakers that are enthusiastic about their profession! The week was awesome and exhausting at the same time. But that’s what made it worthwhile!”
Participants also praised the faculty and host facility. “The highlight of the workshop was the La Crosse faculty. Highly educated – down to earth people (a rare combination)” said Shelley C., RN. Many attendees mentioned that learning from experts in the field left them inspired and energized.
Whitney W., RRT, reflected on the practical benefits: “Lots of great information. Received sample tools and forms that I can use right now.” This highlights the immediate value the workshop provides, ensuring participants leave with practical, actionable knowledge.
More Than Just Training: A Community of Learning
The workshop is not just about gaining knowledge — it’s about joining a community of professionals from all over the country committed to advancing the field of cardiac rehabilitation. Networking opportunities and evening activities provide a chance to interact with colleagues and share experiences in a relaxed setting, enriching the learning experience.
A complimentary dinner is included with your registration fee, providing a wonderful opportunity to engage with fellow attendees and enjoy great food. Additionally, social activities such as a Mississippi River Dinner Cruise may be scheduled, depending on weather and time. These activities create lasting memories and further strengthen the sense of community among attendees.
