“In the blink of an eye” and “time flies” are idioms that we hear from patients, colleagues and family as we rapidly approach a new year. Just as January’s reflection allows us to set goals for the upcoming year, December gives the opportunity to look back at the accomplishments over the last 12 months. We celebrate those events as they happen but if you examine them collectively, they take on a different perspective.
As I look back at what AACVPR has done as an organization during 2019, it is quite astonishing for a relatively small association. The things that this group has accomplished are what make AACVPR a leader in the field of cardiac and pulmonary rehab.
In addition to the continued success of many established programs and initiatives, there is the new Tobacco Change Package, the ability to do virtual lobbing, new membership categories, the scientific statement published in JCRP on Home Based Cardiac Rehab and educational opportunities; the four module Essentials of Pulmonary Rehab and the five module Essentials of Cardiac Rehab with tools that will help strengthen your program, to name a few. If you have not taken the time to read more about these please follow the links provided.
With the strength of the members, volunteers, Board of Directors and SmithBucklin staff I would expect nothing less than AACVPR continued leadership in the field. Take the time to reflect on your patient’s, programs and personal accomplishments through this last year. Tis the season to celebrate!
