As we turn the page on the calendar to August, associated thoughts come quickly to mind: students of all ages will be starting a new school year, the changing of seasons going from an emerald green to gold, and as a patient reminded me yesterday, it is only four months until Christmas!
For those of us in cardiac and/or pulmonary rehabilitation, we know if your program is due this next cycle for re-certification or anticipating certification, now is the time to make sure all the requirements with the appropriate data are being collected. We also anticipate the upcoming 34th AACVPR Annual Meeting in Portland, Oregon. This meeting is promising to be a powerhouse, packed with education and networking events.
In this edition of News and Views get a sneak peak at the closing keynote Jan McInnis and her approach to laughter in medicine. Also read the intriguing interview of the 2019 L. Kent Smith Award of Excellence recipient, Gerene Bauldoff, PhD, RN, MAACVPR. Her passion for the well-being of the pulmonary patient and involvement in AACVPR is inspiring. There is still time to register for the meeting and rooms are available.
As with the changing of the seasons, you may have noticed a change in News and Views. We have a fresh new platform that is both eye catching and easy to read. Not only will we continue to provide cutting-edge content but will also be sharing more stories about the people that make up this wonderful organization. If you are interested in writing an article or have a topic to be published, send suggestions to editor@aacvpr.org.
Hope to see you in Portland!
