Dear AACVPR Colleagues:
I am so excited and humbled to serve as the AACVPR president for this year and serve alongside my esteemed colleagues on the Board of Directors.
I would be remiss if I didn’t start with a huge thank you to David Prince, our outgoing president. Serving alongside David on the Board has been an invaluable learning experience for me. He consistently brings fresh and innovative perspectives to every discussion. More importantly, he always offers words of encouragement to those around him. David is the kind of professional who elevates everyone he works with, and our organization greatly benefits from his service.
I also want to extend my appreciation to the past and current Board members and the dedicated staff of Smithbucklin. Your dedication, passion, and professionalism have been truly inspiring. The synergy that emerges from a group like this has always led to remarkable achievements, and it has been an honor to be a part of it.
Annual Meeting
The 40th AACVPR Annual meeting was quite a success! I totally enjoyed the energy, passion, and incredible learning opportunities. Thank you to the attendees, the Planning Committee, speakers, vendors, and all who were involved in creating such an unbelievable event.
About Me
I was born with health care in my blood. My dad is a pharmacist who became a hospital administrator, and my mom is a nurse. I got my first hospital badge when I was about 8 years old!
I started my career in cardiopulmonary rehab after receiving a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from East Carolina University. Over the years since that time, I worked as a clinical exercise physiologist, began working with our state affiliate NCCRA as a regional vice president, moved into program management positions, became president of our state organization, and participated in Day on the Hill on many occasions.
Many badges have taken the place of the original over the years, but my goal is the same as many of you — to make a difference, to help others, and to be a part of something bigger than myself.
That start to my journey many years ago is ultimately what led me to the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehab, involvement with our state association, and ultimately AACVPR.
This is an organization of professionals who love what they do, who are excited to share their wins so others can benefit from them, and who also support each other during their struggles. I am completely humbled to be stepping into the role of AACVPR president, especially when I look back at the list of esteemed past presidents and all they have achieved for our profession, but I gain strength knowing that I'm jumping off the shoulders of the giants who came before me. With that, I also can say that I'm so thrilled to have the honor to kick off the next 40 years; and boy do we have a lot in store for you!
