The 33rd AACVPR Annual Meeting presentations were “on track to innovate” the delivery of Value-Based Care (VBC) initiatives, practices and services. The messaging of the presentations reflected the alignment of VBC to the association’s broader VBC vision, mission and strategic plan. The context of the presentations identified and promoted patient-centric, outcomes-based and efficient care delivery models in cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation services.
The session “B307: On Track to Innovate – Tomorrow’s Headlines Today” was a panel discussion that included the program track planning leaders highlighting the science, themes, innovation, implications and outcomes within each program track. The VBC themes permeated throughout one keynote and five program tracks, illustrating operational transformation, program efficiencies, assigning accountability to medical directors, effective technology solutions and improving the patient experience. These are all driving factors in our association’s VBC definition:
“Value-based care is delivering the best quality patient care with regard to the cost of that care through data-driven analysis and service improvement. To this end, the Value-Based Care initiative will create resources that will assist cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation professions: assign accountability; target efficiencies; strategize operational transformation; restructure the care delivery model; create effective technology solutions in management; and, ultimately, improve the patient and practitioner experience.”
Many sessions at the 33rd AACVPR Annual Meeting were recorded, and most included supplemental handouts that are publicly available online. If you are interested in catching up on the latest in VBC, below are a few sessions — of many — that illustrated the themes of VBC at the Annual Meeting:
