AACVPR is led by people passionate about the impact the organization can have. This continues our News & Views "Get to Know Your Board" series. We continue the series by getting to know Mark Enrico, EP, CCRP, CLA, FAACVPR, one of your 2018-19 AACVPR Directors. Learn about his professional background, what he predicts will be a "hot topic" this year, and what he sees as the most valuable benefit of being an AACVPR member.
Tell us a bit about your professional background.
I am a graduate of Cal State University of Fullerton and started working as an exercise physiologist in 2007. I am currently the supervisor of the cardiopulmonary rehab department for Citrus Valley Health Partners in the greater Los Angeles area. I am the immediate past president for the California Society for Cardiac Rehabilitation (CSCR) and serve on several AACVPR committees such as program certification and the membership and affiliate relations committee. I am a fellow of CSCR and AACVPR and was part of the inaugural group of CCRP-certified professionals.
What is your position on the Board, and what do you hope to accomplish while in this position?
This is my first year on the AACVPR Board as a Director. One of my main duties will be the liaison to Program Certification. As a board member of AACVPR, my hope is to be a key player in strengthening our organization by increasing membership value and highlighting the importance of staying up to date with current trends and best practices.
How long have you been a member of AACVPR, and what inspired you to join the AACVPR Board?
I first joined AACVPR in 2011 because I wanted to learn more about the industry and to enhance my professional growth. I wouldn’t have thought in a million years that I would someday be where I am today. The inspiration to join the Board was the experience I gained while serving on my state affiliate. There is something special about working with a group of like-minded individuals who strive to make a positive difference. I have come to love volunteerism and found a passion in helping others. Joining the AACVPR Board was a natural progression for me.
Are there any key aspects of the field you hope to explore this year? Anything you predict will be a “hot topic” in 2018?
I definitely want to explore and enhance the ways that program certification can be used in value-based care and improving patient outcomes.
What do you see as the most valuable benefit of being an AACVPR member?
In my opinion, the biggest benefit of being an AACVPR member is the access to up-to-date information and best practices through conferences, webinars, email communications, newsletters, journals and networking.
